Medicare Part D Open Enrollment

October 15 – December 7 is an important time of year for Medicare beneficiaries.   It is Open Enrollment Period for Medicare Part D, the prescription drug benefit.   Since plans can change prices, premiums and formularies each year, it is important to compare your current plan with those being offered in 2017.   If you would like a counselor to help with this process, we can provide one.   Shepherd’s Center will again this year provide a walk-in Enrollment Center at the 5200 Oak location, Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.   Or, specific appointments can be made at either office.

Call Andy at 816/444-1121 (5200 Oak) or Joyce at 816/753-7039 (3501 Campbell).  Be sure when you call to have the following information available:

–  Medicare card (we need both the claim number and effective dates in order to process a new enrollment)

–   A list of current prescription drugs, including exact spelling, dosage, and frequency

–  The name of your current drug plan

Our Medicare Counselors are saving people money everyday.  Here is one example:

One of our counselors saved a gentleman $8,210 on his drug costs for next year by switching his Part D plan.  His old plan would have cost approximately $8,300.  His new one, $90 (for a whole year) Not everyone will save or save this much but  it is definitely worth the time to check out.
